Hori Madhuri · Pad 7
dekho dekho rī, ṭhiṭhorī horī kī
Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj
English meaning
Seeing Shyāmasundara adorned as a maiden by sakhīs in the festival of Holī, a paramahansa exclaims: Just look at the banter of Holī! The gopīs have transformed the Supreme Man, God, into a damsel! He has been dressed up in strange clothes and ornaments. The gopīs have covered His head with His pītāmbara using it as a chunarī. They have daubed vermilion in the parting of His hair and applied collyrium in His eyes. They have decorated His hands with henna, His feet with mihāvara and the centre of His forehead with a red bindī. All the gopīs are repeatedly shouting, ‘Victory to Kishorī Jī!’ Joking and jesting with Him sweetly in various ways, they teasingly ask Shyāmasundara, ‘Where has Your imperiousness gone now?’ One sakhī says, ‘Let us take this maiden in the groves of Gahvaravana to make Her dance’. Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī says, ‘I sacrifice myself innumerable times on such a Holī and even more on such a maiden!’
