māninī! kāsoṁ sīkhī māna
Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj
English meaning
Vishākhā sakhī, trying to pacify māninī Kishorī Jī, says to Her, “Oh Māninī Rādhe! From who have You learnt this art of doing māna? Which guru has given You this knowledge by infusing some words in Your ear? Although with knitted eyebrows, and filled with pride, You make it obvious that You are well trained in the art of māna, but this guru of Yours was really imperfect in knowledge because the only thing he could teach You is to do māna but he did not teach You to love renouncing māna. Kishorī Jī! Even in the world, this saying is very famous that ‘a guru should be accepted only after much inquiry and water should be drunk after getting it filtered.’ That is, a guru should not be chosen blindly, but only after due consideration. Oh Kishorī Jī! Look, I have brought for You a highly qualified real guru.” Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī says, “As soon as Kishorī Jī turned back to look, She found the sakhī Lalitā, meditating in the guise of a saint. Seeing her, She burst into laughter and thus, Her māna was terminated.”
