sakhī! kyoṁ, nija piya pai itarāya

Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj

English meaning

A sakhī’s humorous conversation with her friend who regards Shyāmasundara as her beloved – Oh sakhi! Why are you so proud of your beloved? Your beloved cannot compete with my beloved even in a dream. The other sakhī replied, “Oh sakhi! You don’t know, being one without a second, my beloved can be compared with Himself alone.” The first sakhī said, “Fine! Just tell me the name of your beloved whose attributes you are singing so exaggeratingly.” The other sakhī retorted, “Why don’t you tell first the name of your beloved about whom you are boasting so much?” In the meantime, Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī said, “When the beloveds of both of you are only like themselves, it is obvious that both of you regard the brother of Baladāū, i.e. Shyāmasundara as your beloved because it is only He who defies all comparisons.”
