Milan Madhuri · Pad 42
yamuna taṭa, gaī bharana ghaṭa āja
Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj
English meaning
A sakhī says to her intimate friend, “Oh sakhi! Today, I had gone to fetch water from the river Yamunā. What to tell, there, on the bank of the Yamunā was standing the leader of pranksters, the king of Braja, Shyāmasundara. As soon as He saw me, He played a melodious tune on His flute, hearing which my condition became, as if I had a bolt from the blue. Here, I sat down in that very place holding my heart with my hands and there, that Naughty one ran into the groves.” In the words of Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī, “Now my condition is such that on the one hand, I have been desperately writhing in His separation every moment and on the other hand, there is a fight going on between love and bashfulness.” (Love says to the bashfulness, ‘Now that I have come, you go away.’ And the bashfulness says, ‘I am the eternal companion, therefore you go away.’)
