Shri Krishna Madhuri · Pad 20

dhūsari, dhūri bhare hari āvata

Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj

English meaning

(The unique sight of Shyāmasundara who is returning home in the evening after grazing the cows.) His whole body is covered with the dust raised by the cows’ hooves. He is wearing a crown made of peacock-feathers on His head and a beautiful kāchhanī is tied around His waist. He is playing most melodiously on His flute. Hearing the transcendental music of His flute, all the gopīs of Braja have come from their houses, yearning desperately to see Him. (The love of the gopīs for Shyāmasundara was so strong that even one moment of His separation was literally like a kalpa to them. Therefore, whenever they saw Him, they cursed the creator of this universe, Brahmā for making the eye-lids blink which prevented them from drinking the beauty of their Beloved’s form uninterruptedly.) On one shoulder of Bhagwan Shrī Kṛishṇa is His lathi, and on the other is beautified a black blanket. His tangled curly locks are forcibly attracting everyone to Him. The cows are filled with such motherly affection for their calves that milk is flowing automatically from their udders. Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī says, “Such is the divine charm of this scene that even Bhagwan Shiva is forced to forget all about His nirvikalpa trance in order to have a glimpse of it!”
