Shri Krishna Bal Leela Madhuri · Pad 19
chalana lāge, ṭhumuki-ṭhumuki nandalāla
Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj
English meaning
(Fulfilling Mother Yashodā’s desire, Shrī Kṛishṇa started walking a little; the description of that scene) Little Kṛishṇa has just started toddling, but He does not have much practice as yet. Therefore, standing by Himself, He takes a couple of steps but falls down again and again. Weary from repeatedly falling down, He starts crawling, making His way to the high threshold of the main door. He tries His best to cross it, using all the strength He can gather from His tiny hands, feet and stomach to prop Himself up and reach the other side, but all His efforts are in vain. So He gets annoyed and starts screaming. Hearing His scream, Mother Yashodā comes running to baby Kṛishṇa due to excessive love for Him, and takes Him in her lap. Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī remarks that the same Supreme Being who can cause the dissolution of infinite universes by simply raising His eyebrows, is performing the infinitely sweet childhood līlās of not being able to cross even a threshold. Maiyā tries to calm the little Kṛishṇa by telling Him, “Don’t cry any more. I will have the threshold removed tomorrow.” Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī says, “Reassuring Him again and again in this manner, Yashodā Maiyā embraces and caresses her sweet son in her lap and claps her hands, pretending to hit the threshold, so that innocent Kṛishṇa will get some peace.”
