prema binu, gyānī nipaṭa gaṁmāra
Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj
English meaning
Without attaining selfless divine love of the Personal God, Shrī Kṛishṇa, even self-realized, self-contented, pure-soul men of wisdom, despite being gyānīs (knowledgeable) are actually ignorant in the opinion of rasikas. Although the word ‘gyānī’ means one who knows, but how can that gyānī be considered to be a perfect knower without having tasted the sweetness of divine love-bliss? Even in the world, no sensible man will believe in the words of a blind man who declares that he has eyes but he is unable to see any gross thing. Similarly, if a gyānī tells that he has been blessed with the eyes to see Brahma, but he could never see Bhagwan Kṛishṇa, the Supreme God with a form and attributes, how then can that gyānī be ever considered to be a true gyānī by rasikas? In the world, what pleasure will a mother derive from that son who permanently stays in her womb? In the same way, the bliss of the Impersonal God of gyānīs is prosaic (dull), which always stays in the heart without being manifested. These gyānīs could not perceive the ceaseless indulgence of the Supreme God, Shrī Kṛishṇa, in the sports of divine love. Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī says, “We opine that those gyānīs are like that donkey that bears the burden of sandalwood on its back (without realizing its worth).”
