āratī ārati-hārī kī, ki vṛindāvipina bihārī kī

Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj

English meaning

I do the āratī of Shrī Kṛishṇa, who performs ever-new līlās in Vṛindāvana to please His devotees and who is the destroyer of sorrows and the giver of everlasting happiness. On His head is tied a beautiful turban in a slightly slanting manner. His crown is studded with multi-coloured gems and is decorated with strings of pearls. Its beauty is further enhanced by a peacock-feather, tucked into it in a unique fashion. Even more attractive is the way His crown sits on His forehead. And absolutely unsurpassable are the movements of His eyebrows, the manner of holding the staff and the shine of the saffron-paste on His forehead. A lovely ‘bulāka’ is swinging down His nose; the dangling earrings can be seen scintillating in His ears. His mischievous side-glances are brimming over with divine love. The locks of His hair are swaying to and fro. His eyelids are spilling the nectar of love. His heart is inflamed with the ardour of love and His eyes are reflecting an extreme longing to see Kishorī Jī. A beautiful silken shawl is attractively adorned on His chest. His lower yellow garment is presenting an indescribably unique sight! The kāchhanī around His waist is tied in the style of an acrobat; His eyes lure even the heart of Kāmadeva, the god of beauty; His ogles are sharp; His soft-spoken words inspire love; He has completely robbed the hearts of all the men and women of Braja. Gem-studded kaṅkaṇas are beautified around His wrists. The jingling sound of His golden kiṅkiṇī captures the heart. Absolutely unique, He is ineffable by all similes. Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī does the āratī of that Supreme Lord who is the joy of Nanda, who is the very essence of happiness; who is the personification of Existence, Knowledge and Bliss (Sachchidānanda), and who graces the moon-dynasty by descending into it in His blue-complexioned form.
