dṛiga-paṭa mukuṭa laṭaka pe aṭaki gayo

Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj

English meaning

(A sakhī’s sweet encounter with Shyāmasundara.) “My eyes have got stuck in the bend of Shyāmasundara’s peacock-feather-crown. My eyes, which had been in the company of material objects since time immemorial, have now turned away from them forever. Try as I did to distract my eyes from the crown due to a sense of propriety, they stopped on His heart-stealing curly locks. I succeeded in removing them from the locks, but they immediately ran and dauntlessly got attached to the arched eyebrows. I tried once more and took them away from the eyebrows, but no sooner had I done that than they met with the eyes of my Beloved and started staring at them unblinkingly as if sewn to them.” Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī says, “Seeing the futility of her efforts, the gopī surrendered her mind and intellect to the feet of her Beloved and became His beloved forever.”
