kānha kī bāta rahī aba kāna

Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj

English meaning

(Separated from their beloved Kṛishṇa, the gopīs of Braja are talking to themselves.) Today, those blissful talks of beloved Shyāmasundara exist only in the ears, i.e. that bliss is no longer available. Those days, when beloved Shyāmasundara used to shower ever-new charms of love, have now become like dreams. The words of Shyāmasundara, when He used to tell us, ‘Oh gopīs, I can never repay your debt, I will always be indebted to you’ etc., have become mere stories. Those pleasures of divine love, which we attained through the Beloved, have also disappeared like magic. Even those banks of the Yamunā, Vanshīvaṭa, and Vṛindāvana seem to be unfamiliar. Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī says, “The cows, the cowherd boys and the maidens of Braja have all become pale without Shyāmasundara.”
