karana gai, kāli yamuna asanāna

Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj

English meaning

One sakhī relates her first meeting with Shyāmasundara to another – Oh sakhi! Yesterday, I went to bathe in the river Yamunā. While I was bathing, Shyāmasundara appeared there all of a sudden and without saying a word, attacked me as if with an arrow by glancing at me with the piercing sidelong looks of love. I was drowned in the ecstasy of that unspeakable, unfathomable divine love-bliss. I now intensely longed for and was at the same time, determined to experience the divine touch of Shyāmasundara’s captivatingly beautiful body. Hence, standing in only waist-deep water, I pretended as if I was drowning and shouted, ‘Help!, help!’ Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī says, “My plan worked! Shyāmasundara came running and holding me tightly in His arms pulled me out of water. Oh sakhi! That touch was so sweet that no words can convey the ecstasy that I experienced!”
