Shri Krishna Madhuri · Pad 25
yamuna taṭa, ṭhād̤ho sundara shyāma
Original pad by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj
English meaning
Shyāmasundara is standing on the bank of the river Yamunā. The sight of His peacock-feathered crown and His body, beautifully curved at three places - neck, waist and legs, is extraordinarily enthralling! He is holding a staff, wrapped up in His shoulder-cloth, in His hand, seeing the beauty of which, millions of Kāmadevas feel embarrassed. The pītāmbara and the kāchhanī tied around His waist look extremely lovely, and exceedingly charming is the sight of the flute tucked in the kāchhanī. Standing at one place and throwing His side-long looks of love from hither to thither, He is stealing the heart of the maidens of Braja. Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī observes, “One newly-wed gopī, unable to lift her veil to see Shyāmasundara due to regard for public opinion, is experiencing the bliss of seeing Shyāmasundara by looking at His reflection in the water of the Yamunā.”
