1विष कीड़ा विष रस माँगे आठु यामा।
2मन माँगे विषयन नहिं माँगे श्यामा॥
3viṣha kīd̤ā viṣha rasa māṁge āṭhu yāmā
4mana māṁge viṣhayana nahiṁ māṁge śhyāmā
5Just as an insect breeding on dirt loves only dirt, so is
6our mind which always finds happiness only in material
7and mundane sense objects, and it finds no happiness
8in the names, forms, pastimes, qualities or in the loving
9remembrance of Shri Shyama.
