<a id="line-4"></a>yāte gopī prema pāyo mahābhāva nāmā

<a id="line-5"></a>The separation that was experienced by the Gopis  
<a id="line-6"></a>increased their love and elevated it to the highest  
<a id="line-7"></a>level. The Queens of Dvarika experienced no such separation  
<a id="line-8"></a>and therefore their love is of a lower level, even though it is  
<a id="line-9"></a>also madhurya bhav. That is why Gopi prem reached the  
<a id="line-10"></a>highest state of divine love, known as ‘mahabhav bhakti’.
