## English whole-pad meaning

A virahiṇī sarcastically says, “Blessed is my beloved Shyāmasundara, who is the crest-jewel of thieves, wears a peacock-feather on His head, and is the blemish on the lunar-dynasty. When He descended, the paksha was black (it was the eighth day of the kṛishṇa paksha) and even clouds were black. His body-complexion was also black and as soon as that Prankster placed His foot on the earth (descended), He took the help of His black deceiving power, yogamāyā. Through that yogamāyā only, He left the prison (because all the doors were automatically unlocked and the gate-keepers fell asleep) and crossed the river Yamunā. (Prison is a black place because of inhabiting bad people, and the colour of the river Yamunā is also black.) After that, that Trickster deluded Yashodā into sleep through yogamāyā, and took her shelter by becoming her son. Although it is heard that the palace of Nanda was a treasure-house of gems (i.e. Nanda was extremely rich), still, helpless before His deceitful nature, Shyāmasundara started the black deed of stealing. First that Trickster stole butter, then clothes, and then, He stole even my attachment to all my worldly relatives. After this, He stole my heart. But even after all this, He was not satisfied. Even the leaders of the greatest worldly thieves steal only gross objects which are visible in the world, but this Trickster stole away even my invisible innumerable sins of the innumerable past lives and destroyed them forever. As if all this was not enough, He further ignited the fire of separation in my heart with the intention of burning me in that fire.” In the words of Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī, “I am not worried about myself being burnt at all; my only worry is lest even beloved Shyāmasundara who resides in my heart be burnt.”

## Published-book provenance

This site presents transcriptions and scans of published devotional literature. It does not compose new verses or meanings. OCR errors may remain.

Decorative Madhuri and Bhakti Challenge illustrations were generated with Codex. They are separate from published source text, original scans and publisher artwork. Library covers are individually credited supplied-PDF cover/source-page images or publisher-representative artwork; the pictured cover does not establish edition equivalence. [Library cover provenance](https://radhey.shreyam1008.com.np/content/books/index.json).

Prem Ras Madira is a published work by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj, with a print history preceding this website. The supplied companion Gutka identifies Radha Govind Samiti as publisher and its eighth edition as 15 July 2011 (PDF page 3, printed page II).

The official biography says Prem Ras Madira was published by 1955; a JKP article gives 1960 for its first Hindi publication. These sources disagree, so this collection does not assert a single verified first-publication year. The 2011 date identifies the supplied companion Gutka edition, not the first publication or every scanned edition.
