## English whole-pad meaning

Catching hold of Shyāmasundara defeated in the game of Holī, the sakhīs have adorned Him as a young damsel, seeing which a sakhī quips, “Oh sakhi! Is this a boy or a girl? Looking at Her sixteen traditional embellishments, one is led to think that She is certainly a girl, but upon beholding Her blandishments, it seems as if She is obviously a boy, not a girl.” Another sakhī said, “Looking at Her beauty, it appears as if She is definitely someone’s wife.” Yet another sakhī said, “Upon carefully viewing the limbs of Her body, it seems that She is undoubtedly a boy.” In the meanwhile, Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī also joined in the fun of Holī and said, “It is neither a girl nor a boy, it is Brahma and the gender of Brahma is eternally neither feminine nor masculine. Hearing this, the sakhīs, too, started shouting ‘It’s Holī’, ‘It’s Holī’ in the mockery of love.”

## Published-book provenance

This site presents transcriptions and scans of published devotional literature. It does not compose new verses or meanings. OCR errors may remain.

Decorative Madhuri and Bhakti Challenge illustrations were generated with Codex. They are separate from published source text, original scans and publisher artwork. Library covers are individually credited supplied-PDF cover/source-page images or publisher-representative artwork; the pictured cover does not establish edition equivalence. [Library cover provenance](https://radhey.shreyam1008.com.np/content/books/index.json).

Prem Ras Madira is a published work by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj, with a print history preceding this website. The supplied companion Gutka identifies Radha Govind Samiti as publisher and its eighth edition as 15 July 2011 (PDF page 3, printed page II).

The official biography says Prem Ras Madira was published by 1955; a JKP article gives 1960 for its first Hindi publication. These sources disagree, so this collection does not assert a single verified first-publication year. The 2011 date identifies the supplied companion Gutka edition, not the first publication or every scanned edition.
