## English whole-pad meaning

(A gopī’s unique first encounter with beloved Shyāmasundara in spite of her determination to avoid looking into His eyes.) Woe me! That treacherous Shyāmasundara has cast some magic spell on me. I had gone to bathe in the river Yamunā when He came there all of a sudden. Averting His eyes, I secretly drank the nectar of His divine beauty through the protection of my veil. That very instant my eyes were so intoxicated with that bliss that it felt as if they desperately wanted to escape by tearing right through the veil. But I still did not let my eyes meet His, and started on my way home after having filled my pitcher with water. That devious Shyāmasundara followed me and hit my pitcher with a small stone from the back, making a small hole in it. Startled by the sound, I looked around to see who the culprit was, without caring to hide my eyes behind the veil. As soon as I turned around, my eyes looked into the eyes of Shyāmasundara. Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī depicts the incomparable beauty of that scene, “From the front, tears of joy were flowing from the gopī’s eyes and from the back, a stream of water was flowing from her pitcher.”

## Published-book provenance

This site presents transcriptions and scans of published devotional literature. It does not compose new verses or meanings. OCR errors may remain.

Decorative Madhuri and Bhakti Challenge illustrations were generated with Codex. They are separate from published source text, original scans and publisher artwork. Library covers are individually credited supplied-PDF cover/source-page images or publisher-representative artwork; the pictured cover does not establish edition equivalence. Prem Ras Madira is a published work by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj, with a print history preceding this website. The supplied companion Gutka identifies Radha Govind Samiti as publisher and its eighth edition as 15 July 2011 (PDF page 3, printed page II).

The official biography says Prem Ras Madira was published by 1955; a JKP article gives 1960 for its first Hindi publication. These sources disagree, so this collection does not assert a single verified first-publication year. The 2011 date identifies the supplied companion Gutka edition, not the first publication or every scanned edition.
