## English whole-pad meaning

One day, Shyāmasundara started knocking at the door of Kishorī Jī’s palace at midnight. Although Kishorī Jī knew who it was, yet for the sake of humour, She asked smiling within Her heart, “Who is this naughty one, knocking at My door at midnight?” Shyāmasundara replied, “I am Mādhava.” The word Mādhava means Bhagwan Kṛishṇa, but it also means the spring season. Kishorī Jī deliberately took the latter meaning and said, “Oh spring season! How did You come at this time, as there has not come even the month of Phāguna yet?” (She thus continued taking a different meaning of the words which qualify Bhagwan Kṛishṇa and with which He tried to introduce Himself to Her.) He further replied, “I am Chakrīdhara.” Kishorī Jī responded, “If You are a potter, go somewhere else to make Your earthen pots.” Shyāmasundara said, “No, no, I am Ahimardī (the trampler of the serpent Kāliyā)”. Kishorī Jī said, “If You are the killer of the snakes, Garud̤a, how did You come here, leaving Your Baikuṇṭha?” Bhagwan Kṛishṇa then said, “I am Hari”. At this, Kishorī Jī replied with feigned fear, “Oh God! You are a monkey! Oh mother! Then I will not open My door at all.” Shyāmasundara further said, “I am Ghanashyāma”. At this, Kishorī Jī said, “If You are a black cloud, go in the sky; who needs You here in the palace?” Shyāmasundara then said, “Oh Rādhe! I am Dharaṇīdhara (the Supreme God who sustains the entire world.)” Dharaṇīdhara also means Sheshanāga, an incarnation of God who holds the entire earth on his head. Kishorī Jī said, “If You are Sheshanāga, then go to the nether world.” Jagadguru Shrī Kripālu Jī says, “It was only after teasing Bhagwan Kṛishṇa in this way for a long time that Kishorī Jī opened the door.”

## Published-book provenance

This site presents transcriptions and scans of published devotional literature. It does not compose new verses or meanings. OCR errors may remain.

Decorative Madhuri and Bhakti Challenge illustrations were generated with Codex. They are separate from published source text, original scans and publisher artwork. Library covers are individually credited supplied-PDF cover/source-page images or publisher-representative artwork; the pictured cover does not establish edition equivalence. [Library cover provenance](https://radhey.shreyam1008.com.np/content/books/index.json).

Prem Ras Madira is a published work by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj, with a print history preceding this website. The supplied companion Gutka identifies Radha Govind Samiti as publisher and its eighth edition as 15 July 2011 (PDF page 3, printed page II).

The official biography says Prem Ras Madira was published by 1955; a JKP article gives 1960 for its first Hindi publication. These sources disagree, so this collection does not assert a single verified first-publication year. The 2011 date identifies the supplied companion Gutka edition, not the first publication or every scanned edition.
